Since freeze-2.4, the GNU "configure" script has been added to the
Freeze distribution. So all I had to do was run configure, and in the
Makefile, uncomment the -O2 option to gcc.

I've also tossed in the ftar/ztar and zf scripts as I have before.

So that your "file" command recognizes frozen files, add the line
    0	string \037\237	frozen data
to your /etc/magic.

The author claims a 20% speedup in freezing files in this release due to
having rewritten much of the time-critical code. I haven't run my own
tests to verify. You can always use the -g option to speed it up
anyway, with a small loss in compression.
