ShaftBBS v0.4.x

Well, it looks like somehow you've gotten a hold of ShaftBBS.
It's an experiment thing and I probably won't have it working very well
for a very long time. I need help with many things though, as this is my
first attempt at writing anything useful. I'm not a good programmer.
But, I'm going to try to make this thing work. I appreciate any help.
Some of the code in this program is derived from ambbs
(ftp://oscar.loa.com/ambbs). So thanks for looking at it, if you see any
errors and want to correct them, do so, and email me your changes.
Thanks. This program falls under the GPL. See the COPYING file for more
details. If you'd like a more recent version of this program, check
http://fidalgo.net/~matt/shaft.tgz. This will always be the latest version.
I work on it almost daily.. so many things can happen. The main site is
ftp://tsx-11.mit.edu/pub/linux/packages/bbs/shaft/shaft.tgz. I guess I
should probably start including the version in the filename. If you want
some help, see README.INSTALL, README.CODES, and README.MENUS.

Work began on 3-2-1996.. :)
wow.. it's now 4-4-1996.. very much progress has been made.. there is now
a specific directory on tsx-11.mit.edu for this program.. that's weird.

Right now..(as of 3-23-1996) there is:
- User Editor.. works pretty well. Doesn't look too bad.
- a file pager
- a meta code parser.. uses @'s for ansi codes and #'s for user stats (See README.codes)
- a setup program that helps get you going by creating a config file (not
  a very strenuous process)
- easily configurable menus (See README.menus)
- the users have a time limit, which will log warn them when they're getting
low, and log them off when they run out..

To Do: (well....what don't i need to do?)
- Finish message/email interface (Started today.. 3-19-1996)
- Make file area support
- Voting booth

Really far off to do's:
- Make an internal text editor that works well.
- Talk like protocol

Please report any bugs/fixes. I've been fixing any problems lately.. and so
as far as I know.. everything is working quite smoothly.
